As a Minority & Women Owned Certified Business, Verbal+Visual is always looking to work with clients who exemplify our mission of using design and technology to create a more just world. Given these values, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the new Nude Barre site, an inclusivity-focused brand that creates intimates and hosiery for dancers of all skin tones. Nude Barre offers twelve shades of nude to reflect the diversity of skin tones.

Nude Barre’s Founder, Erin Carpenter, is a former professional dancer who struggled mightily to find the right hosiery that worked for her, as only beige and shades of beige existed in the nude category. Her and many other dancers resorted to dying their undergarments and tights to match their skin tone. Erin eventually decided to take on this problem herself.

Following a rebrand with Verbal+Visual branding partner Yummy Colours, Verbal+Visual brought the digital experience to life by offering a holistic and inclusive approach to merchandising for “Hu(e)mans” with a wide range of skin tones.

The new e-commerce experience features a “Find Your Color” quiz, built with Octane.ai’s Quiz Finder, that gives customers the ability to find the perfect shade match by answering a series of questions with visual prompts. The homepage showcases the complete range of hues offered, represented by hours in the day. Selecting a hue brings up profiles of brand ambassadors who closely match those hues.

In addition, to highlight diversity on the site, the color variants on the product pages are specifically designed to be shown in a random color assortment, a sharp contrast to many fashion brands that by default show the lighter tones first and the darker tones last.

These changes add up to a beautiful and smooth shopping experience, one that reflects the new branding and Nude Barre’s brand values with a hu(e)man first approach to e-commerce.
